"In the battle to beat the drop Burton Thistle knew they had to travel to Swarthmoor Reserves and come away with a win as they are running out of games. Swarthmoor Reserves had the upper hand for most of the game and probably deserved to edge out a gallant Burton Thistle side that would not give in. Chris Smith was the man of the match for Swarthmoor Reserves for his two goals to keep Burton Thistle at bay, Ben Donan and Stuart Mason scoring the others. Burton Thistle replied with goals by Chris Plevey and Darren Nelson. This defeat leaves Burton Thistle's hopes of survival hanging by a thread, but hot favourites for relegation."
