"Kirkby Lonsdale wallowing at the wrong end of the table and in an unaccustomed position for them knew they faced Swarthmoor Social Club in a virtual six pointer. Kirkby Lonsdale set off at a hectic pace which was too good for Swarthmoor who soon buckled under the pressure. On this performance it was hard to believe that Kirkby Lonsdale had played their last six games without winning one. Brian Pennington got Kirkby Lonsdale on the road with a brilliant volleyed goal, Andrew Metcalfe, Joe Mather and a brace by Matthew Longden returning from County football duty scoring for a happy Kirkby Lonsdale. Swarthmoor was outplayed for long periods of the game and with leading scorer Graham Wilcox firmly held by the Kirkby defence it did not look as though they had the ability to make any impression in front of goals. But when Kirkby eased off Swarthmoor showed they could be dangerous when they fought back with goals by Chris Scrogham and the ever dependable Graham Wilcox who managed to shrug off his marker to score once. After last weeks excellent draw at Carnforth Rangers this was a disappointing game for Swarthmoor."
