Beaten Whiteside Cup Finalists made the long journey to Swarthmoor Reserves for a late 4:15pm kick off hoping to put the cup final defeat behind them and it took just 5 minutes for Jimmy Watters to latch onto Dean Robinson's through ball to put fire past the keeper and put Freehold 1-0 up. Two minutes later a Gary Davis free kick from outside the area had the keeper beaten all ends as he fired it into the top corner to make it 2-0.
Swarthmoor however came back and scored from a corner that wasn't cleared properly to reduce the score to 2-1. Freehold however went straight up the other end and Liam Morgan smashed a shot into the top corner to make it 3-1 before Swarthmoor scored from the rebound of a disputed penalty to make it 3-2. Freehold continued to push on and had several other chances whilst Swarthmoor spent the majority of the game trying to intimidate the referee and the opposition whilst questioning every decision. This led to the Swarthmoor defender being sent off for foul and abusive language.
The second half was much the same with Swarthmoor constantly trying to play mind games with both the officials and the opposition. However Freehold had now settled down and refused to rise to such off hand tactics and not long after the break Ian Palwankar turned and on the volley scored with a brilliant left foot volley to register his first goal for the club which led to every Freehold player jumping on him in celebration. This made the score 4-2 and from here on in the result was never in doubt. Skipper Gary Davis scored his second to make it 5-2 with a great run and shot inside the area. Ian Palwankar scored his second when he smashed home a Dean Robinson cross to make it 6-2. Phil Bushell then made it 7-2 when he shot inside the area before the excellent Ian Palwankar completed his hat-trick to make it 8-2. Swarthmoor then scored a consolation when keeper Dirk Davis was challenged in his own area by the Swarthmoor striker who only just managed to guide the ball into the empty net before Alan Davis completed the rout when he raced onto a loose ball to force the ball over the line to make it 9-3. As it has been said previously Freehold have at times struggled to kill teams off but it was only going to be a matter of time before someone came on the receiving end of a Freehold rout and Swarthmoor were the unlucky side however due to the way some of there players conducted themselves on the pitch during this game it was I feel no less than they deserved."

*bags assist for vinnies goal*
Think they are being harsh- the ref was awful and I've seen freehold players moan just as much..... And nearly even fight with each other last season.
