Two goals from Shaun Dixon and one goal from Ben Mooney gave the reserves a 3-1 win over promotion hopefulls Middleton.

It was said at the start of the game by the Middleton manager that they had eight 1st teamers missing, by the showing of the team this saturday a Middleton team at it's strongest should do well this season.

A game which had it's moments wasn't helped by the standard of the referee. Some bizzarre decisions were made (and not made) by the man in black.

Swarthmoors second string travel to Galgate reserves this coming saturday (weather permitting) with a fair confidence boost with the 3 points earned against a strong Middleton side.

Taken from http://www.nlfl.org.uk/

"Swarthmoor Reserves won its first game of the season when they beat Middleton easier than the 3-1 score line suggests. Swarthmoor was the better team throughout and should have scored more than the three they did by Shaun Dixon (2) and Ben Mooney but for some good goal keeping by the visitors keeper. This defeat drops Middleton into the scrap to avoid relegation, when before the season started they were regarded as one of the promotion favourites."
