History
Although records show Swarthmoor had a football team in 1906/07, the present club was formed in 1946 after the Second World War. Founder members Tommy Miller and Myley Satterthwaite were later joined on the committee by Les Dent, Jack Kitchin, Dick Crewdson, Dennis Molyneux and Ernie Gay.
The club in its present form owes a great deal to former player David Caine who helped erect the old wooden club buildings with help from a dedicated group of volunteers led by Jack Dermody. When erected, the social building was opened in 1974 by Alderman Cedric Ward.
There have been many great players for the club over the years starting with Tommy Miller, Myley Satterthwaite, Vernie High, Jack Berdworth, Norman Woof, and Bill Dixon.
More Recent players up to the present day include Terry & Colin Morrison, Pip Hannah, Mike Crowe, Jimmy Armstrong, David Caine, Keith Gammock, Jack Dermody, Ray Miller, Stan Haworth, Charlie Wilson, Mark Wilson, George Hodgson, Ian Gallacher, Tony Burton, Ray Muchanan, Mike Cloudsdale, Arthur Kendrick, Kenny Hackett, Frankie Hollywood, Keith Wilcock, Paul Leech, Ray Marshall, David Scogham, Mike Brown, Ted Regan, Ron Harrison, Keith Hewson, Glen Simpson, Colin Lamb, Andy Leech, Mark Lambton, Steve Conroy, Paul Green, Steve Kidd, Kevin Kibby, Dave Gardner, Chris Price, Stu Jackson, Stu Garth, Mike Swarbrick, Andy John, Kevin Toal, Adam Kendal, Rikki Gallagher, Jon Bell, John Rattigan, Graham Wilcox, Chris Scrogham, Tom Wood, Gavin Jolly and Ryan Lackey.
The club has also seen many successful managers, many have brought honours to the club, and these include Tommy Miller, Terry Morrison, Jack Dermody, Kevin Morrall, John Martin, Mike Cloudsdale, Gordon Lloyd, Viv Penfold and Mike Swarbrick.
The clubs ambition for the future is to develop the current teams and the young players in the club and local community. The target for the senior's reserves team is to develop and gain promotion from the North Lancashire & District Division 2, while the 1st team hope to consolidate their place in the Premier League to which they were recently promoted.
